Little Legends
Little Legends
Little Legends is a Christian based Preschool situated in Horison. Little Legends prides itself on being up to date with latest qualifications, children’s needs and programmes. From a young age children of Little Legends are exposed to computer literacy skills, motor and reflex development, swimming classes, various cultural activities, mathematics and listening and communication skills. We prepare the children as much as possible so that when they leave here and enter the world of primary school they are well equipped and ready to accept the challenges of growth and development of school learning.
During an ordinary day at Little Legends the children take part in morning class which is followed by snack time. After another session of learning in the classroom the children are given a good solid play time with Little Legends’ outside facilities which include various jungle gyms, swings, sand pits and areas in which sport balls can be used. The children come indoors to enjoy a lunch packed with the goodies a child’s body needs and then it’s off to nap time. Once the children have rested they are free to have playtime until picked up by their parents or guardians.
Little Legends is also a secure, safe environment for the children to feel comfortable and free to learn and grow. We have security systems in place making sure your precious ones are safe and qualified, attentive teachers to make sure your child is in good hands.
We differ from other Preschools because we are based upon Christian, non-racist, non-prejudice values and morals. We offer a wide range of activities and cultures that teach our children about growth, good morals and diversity. We are up to date with latest teaching methods, qualifications, teaching materials and facilities. We offer great learning facilities for your children. We do not only focus on our enrolled youngsters but also help develop those in school and who are part of our aftercare program. Our aftercare teachers help with homework and other work which they might find difficult and challenging. Our extra teaching and help assures that when our children go back to school, they are prepared. We do the extra so that your child might achieve the extra.
The Babies
We have a classroom and cots that accommodate for the newest to our world. We have facilities for new babies from weeks old. The Babies program primarily focuses on the development of both the senses and physical mobility. The teachers use various visual aids which consist of colours, shapes, pictures and cards. This helps the babies with their object differentiation. Story telling is used which improves a child’s understanding, memory and recognition of language. The babies are also introduced to art and artworks which develops a child’s creative abilities. The physical growth is a result of focusing on muscle flexibility and reflex reaction. This is done by massage and the use of soft balls and other equipment.
The 2-3 year old’s
Parents know this era as terrible two’s however these are the years where your child becomes curious and starts recognising and understanding their physical and mental abilities and limits. The program for this age group includes communication, pronunciation, interaction and gross motor skills. Constant interviews and oral discussions allow the children to feel comfortable in speaking and learn the basics of communication. This also allows for one-on-one personal interaction and participation. Role playing activities are used to test their abilities to memorise specific language and relay it back to us. Class activities provide group participation which helps build social confidence. Listening and speaking skills are tested using these interviews and role plays as well as other methods such as storytelling and poetry. The gross motor skills are developed through exercise which test abilities of balance, gymnastics and muscular control. Music and culture are included in this program which reflects the creativity in the children.
The 3-4 year old’s
In this program we go more in depth with the language, communication, numeracy, arts and motor skills. We continue to focus on participation and interaction yet the conversations are less basic and consist of more intricate, constructed sentences. We test their attention spans when listening and teach them to be enthusiastic when reciting roles, plays and poetry. With numerical skills we introduce position and basic quantities. We teach them how to recognise basic geometry and patterns. We begin to focus on simple daily activities and tasks and when doing them to apply social graces and manners.
The 4-5 year old’s
This age group is focused around independence around the continued development of skills and abilities. We go in depth with daily routines and their ability and willingness to do these activities independently. We teach them to use simple tools in daily and school activities. With daily activities one must be taught to be able to distinguish between days of the week and months of the year. These are the simple principles of time. We focus on visual perception: to not only recognise visual occurrences but to be able to describe them. We also focus on their auditory perception with the ability to recognise sounds and distinguish between them with explanations. At this age they begin to recognise and recite language and their literary phenomenon.
The Grade R
This is the preparation class as the children are being prepared for the next year when they enter primary school. The Grade R program is based upon a very high standard of education. We pride ourselves with a higher level of work than that of other schools. We use higher grade worksheets and focus on reading, writing, numeracy, perception (fine motor skills) and gross motor (large motor skills and gymnastics).Computer and music skills are used throughout each grade and are taught so that they may meet creative and logical thought programs set in school grades.
Little Legends offers a wide range of extra murals that help the children develop and improve specific skills. These extra activities are available to every child and provide opportunities for the children to try out other interests.
Abacus Maths
This is a program set where external ladies join us and teach the children mathematic skills. This is perfect for a child that is maybe struggling with maths or would like to do that little extra mile for the advantage of being ahead in mathematic skills when entering the next stage of primary school. Get a head start now.
Playball
Playball focuses on ball skills and hand-to-eye coordination. At a young age it is vital to develop this reflex as it is used in daily activities and sport. This is an opportunity to bring out the sport skill in your child.
Catrobatz
Catrobatz is another program that focuses of the development of hand-to-eye coordination and ball skills. This helps in developing their throwing and kicking abilities and is also a great advantage to have when it comes to sport training.

This is a swimming club which the children have an opportunity to join. This is a must have skill to learn especially from a young age and will never go to waste. Little Legends provides transport there and back so parents need not worry. Swimming class is for all ages and can continue into schooling stage. Swimming develops lung capacity, strengthens core muscles and muscular flexibility.

This is a dancing program that provides Hip Hop and Ballet classes. The children learn how to stretch their muscles, dance freestyle and learn how to dance to a beat with choreographed moves. This is a great way for the children to have fun while keeping to the music.
Pottery
This is an opportunity for the children to get their hands dirty but not in the usual sense. Pottery class enables the children to get their hands dirty and their creative caps working with moulding and playing with clay. Parents, this is an opportunity for you to witness and save your childs first artistic creation.
Sport lessons
This is mainly for the boys as we follow the schooling sport year training in cricket and soccer skills. In winter we train in soccer and in summer we train in cricket. This provides the children with pre-season training and can focus on specific aspects of a childs game such as catching, bowling, batting and kicking.
Drummies
This class is held by our very own teachers and is for all ages. Drummies incorporates the skills of large motor development, dancing and rhythm and importantly fun.
